01ByMidi started in early 2026 with a used Japanese home sewing machine, unsuccessful attempts, and a desire to create increasingly better bags with its own hands.
In early 2026, ByMidi started with a used Japanese household sewing machine. No large workshop, no professional equipment — just a small machine, a workspace, and a lot to learn on your own.
The first bags were made by experimenting with different sewing styles, fabrics, and construction methods. Some designs looked good on paper, but the finished product didn't meet expectations. And that's when ByMidi's journey truly began.
Over a dozen bags were made, then disassembled, adjusted, or remade from scratch. Sometimes the bag's shape wasn't perfect, sometimes the stitching wasn't neat, and sometimes the material handling wasn't suitable. Each time, ByMidi learned more about how to create shapes, combine materials, and perfect every detail.
Skill doesn't come overnight. It's developed through doing, making mistakes, correcting them, and trying again.
“"Not every bag is a success the first time around. But each attempt helps make the next one better."”
Slow but steady progress is built on perseverance and faith in craftsmanship.

As designs became more complex, the limitations of the household sewing machine that had been a constant companion since the early days gradually became apparent.
Some thicker, multi-layered materials or details requiring strong stitching make finishing the product challenging. Therefore, ByMidi decided to switch to a semi-industrial sewing machine.
It's not just about changing a device. It marks a new step forward — allowing ByMidi to try more challenging designs and refine the product better than before.
ByMidi started with a single person sitting at a sewing machine, but the journey was never a solitary one. Throughout its development, ByMidi received immense support from its partner—from product design suggestions and photography to sharing the first bags and helping ByMidi gain wider recognition. This support helped a small hobby gradually grow into a well-known and trusted brand.
At ByMidi, every step forward today is thanks in part to those who have believed in us from the very beginning.
ByMidi today has more tools, more experience, and can execute designs that the first machine couldn't.
But ByMidi still sees itself as a learning process. Every new material, every new design, and every customer feedback is an opportunity to improve how it makes its products.
Because with handmade items, there's always a detail that could be done better.
ByMidi doesn't aim to produce a huge number of bags in a short time. What ByMidi strives for is to create designs that are unique, easy to use in daily life, and flexible enough for customers to customize the color, size, or other details to their liking. More importantly, ByMidi wants each product to reflect the care and attention to detail of a handmade item.
“"You don't need to be the bag for everyone — just be the bag that suits the person who chooses it."”
ByMidi Manifesto
ByMidi is still in the early stages of its journey. There will be imperfect designs, techniques to learn, and experiments that may not always succeed.
But just like the first dozen or so bags, each attempt helped ByMidi move a little further. And as long as there's still something that can be done better, ByMidi will continue.
ByMidi continues to design, test, and refine new bags every day. You can view our current products or follow ByMidi to see where this journey leads.
